Welcome to South Carolina Public Charter School District

The South Carolina Public Charter School District (SCPCSD) represents an expansion of public school choice in South Carolina. This district is the newest school district in South Carolina and already ranks in the top half of all districts in the state with regard to size. The district now has over 14,000 students in 24 schools. Through the innovative spirit of educators, parents, students, and communities in the state, a wide array of public charter schools are being established. It is the mission of the SCPCSD to assist these schools and ensure they are surviving and flourishing as high quality charter schools. Charter schools are exploring new ways of enhancing student learning. The schools are held accountable through the SCPCSD for rigorous academic standards for students.

The concept of a Public Charter School District is new. The establishment of a Public Charter School District has positioned South Carolina to be a national leader in the charter school movement. I am excited to be part of this innovative program and look forward to working with those educational risk takers who are willing to provide new opportunities for students to be academically successful.
Please do not hesitate to call me at (803) 734-8322 or email me at wbrazell@sccharter.org if I can answer any questions about charter schools in South Carolina.
Sincerely,
Wayne Brazell, Ph.D.
