Friends, families, educators, and students—
Many of us have been creating goals and setting new expectations for this school year. We at the District create goals and set new expectations, too. One of those goals is to communicate more of the great things happening at each of your schools! We’re committed to telling a story this year. A story that showcases new facilities, achievements, activities, and most importantly—our students and educators. Every week you’ll find a new blog post that does just that. With that said—we’d love to hear your ideas and come visit your schools. Please reach out to our Director of Communications, Taylor Fulcher, at email@example.com if you have any photos or suggestions you’d like to see on the blog.
Recently we were lucky enough to tour the newly renovated SC Science Academy in Columbia. The school has turned into a scientist’s haven filled with art, chemistry, technology, and most importantly—inquisitive scholars! The photos below showcase some of the exciting new improvements SC Science Academy has made. Everything from the new murals on the walls, labs, study spaces, and library gets us so excited for the school year. Some of the improvements are still a work in progress and we can’t wait to see everything completed! We know this new space will serve so many deserving families and scholars who are exceeding expectations every day in Columbia.
A message from the Executive Director, Kalu Kalu:
“SCSA is an inquiry based school that focuses on students learning the principles of STEM. We provide an opportunity for students to develop their scientific skills in an individualized learning environment. Students are able to progress based on their ability level. This work has allowed the school to have many students who are well ahead of their peers. Our leading student was accepted into the Governor’s School for Mathematics and Science.
Our middle school currently offers a comprehensive high school program of study and as we expand into the high school grades, we are implementing an extensive college curriculum. This curriculum will focus on the sciences and culminates with an Associate of Sciences degree while attending high school. SCSA: Many minds, one mission #GoAtoms!”
