Statement by Superintendent Chris Neeley on School Mask Mandate Recension
COLUMBIA, S.C. (May 12, 2021) – Superintendent Chris Neeley today released the following statement on Gov. Henry McMaster’s Executive Order and State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman’s recension lifting the mask mandate in public schools:
“Until there is further clarity from the S.C. Department of Education and the Office of the Governor, the S.C. Public Charter School District is requesting all authorized schools to follow the health and safety guidance from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control and the process outlined in Gov. Henry McMaster’s Executive Order. Because teachers and staff were in the original mask mandate that has now been rescinded, this new guidance applies to them as well. Please ensure all staff signs the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control waiver for your records.”
The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s standardized opt out waiver form may be found here. This is the only authorized standardized opt out form available to district authorized schools.
